Quil was born into the Northern Water Tribe. For eight years he watched his older sister and his best friend's brother train in the ways of water-bending, whether it was her with healing or him with fighting. By the age of eight, he was already able to move the water, but he couldn't do anything more with it. He was able to make it into a small ball, but anything else he tried would always break and soak back into the ground. When he turned eight, he was taken into training with Master Pakku. For the next five years, he trained to be a water-bending warrior. At the age of thirteen, Katara, Aang, Sokka and a sky bison. And some lemur, Arrived at the North Pole. They trained with him under Pakku, and sadly, he got destroyed by the girl, Katara. This didn't bother him, it helped her train and ultimately help the Avatar.

The next day though, the Fire Nation attacked the Northern Tribe. Until that time, they had more or less stayed out of the war, so the war was brought to them. They won, but it was paid for with many deaths. Soon after, Master Pakku left with some of the warriors to go help the Southern Tribe rebuild. Quil's father decided to go with him, bringing Quil'Aq and his older sister. Their mother and younger sister stayed behind to take care of their grandmother, and the home. Along the way, the stopped through the Fire Nation once, and if they hit land, they tried to make it Earth Nation. While in the Fire Nation, Quil bought a sword for himself, for if it ever happened what happened with the moon again, he would be defenseless. The man he bought it from taught him for half of a day before they had to leave again, with Soldiers on their heels. Quil trained with this weapon, but ended up using it in his water bending technique. It was now for more self defense, and attack with water.
They made it to the Southern Tribe and have been resting there, and helping rebuild until the war ended. Quil decided he could not stay there anymore, he was 15 and he was old enough to go explore the world. He said good bye to everyone there, and with much coaxing, got a boat from his father and was allowed to leave.

Quil now roams around the Earth Nation and is currently situated in the middle ring of Ba Sing Se.
